Briefcase Coupons

What is a coupon?

Here are some quick facts about coupons:

  • Coupons are auto-issued to your AppSumo account (found in the “My Rewards” section) at the start of each billing cycle of your Briefcase subscription.
  • Only one coupon use can be applied per transaction.
  • Each coupon use has a value of up to $49.
  • In the event you purchase a product that costs more than $49 using a Briefcase coupon, you will be prompted to use a secondary payment method to cover the difference.
  • If you purchase a product that costs less than $49 using a Briefcase coupon, it will still count as one coupon use. You will not be issued a partial coupon or returned funds for the difference in value.
  • If you refund a product purchased with a coupon, the coupon use is added back as long as the coupon is still valid.
  • Coupons expire based on your Briefcase subscription billing date.  If you’re human and don’t have that date memorized, you can always double-check on the “My Rewards” page of your AppSumo account.
  • If you refund a product purchased with a coupon after the coupon has expired, you will need to write into Support at briefcase@appsumo.com for further assistance.
  • Promotions cannot be combined, therefore your 10% discount will not be applied when using a Briefcase coupon. If a Briefcase coupon is not added to the cart, then the 10% discount is automatically applied.

How do I get my coupon?

With the Briefcase Quarterly plan ($147/quarter), you’ll receive one four-use coupon that can be used towards a purchase in the AppSumo store (up to $49 value per use) at the beginning of your billing quarter. Once you join Briefcase, you’ll need to sync your account with your AppSumo account. If you don’t already have an AppSumo account, you can create one for free. This account syncing will also enroll you in your other Briefcase benefits, including access to perks of the AppSumo Plus loyalty program.

After sign up and payment are successful, all you have to do to sync your AppSumo and Briefcase accounts is:

  • Make sure you’re logged into your Briefcase account
  • Head over to your AppSumo Account page(and scroll to the bottom)
  • Click the blue "Sync with Briefcase" button

Once your accounts are linked, to access your coupon, head to your AppSumo Account page and click the “ My Rewards” tile.  You’ll find your available coupon uses at the bottom of this page.

Coupons are issued based on the time your first Briefcase payment was made and cannot be altered. If you signed up for Briefcase on November 20, 2018 at 3:45am, then the coupons are issued on the 20th at 3:45am (monthly or quarterly depending on your billing cycle). However, to provide a buffer window, we’ve added a five day grace period to your coupon’s expiration date. So in this example, your coupons would expire on the 25th at 3:45am.

Briefcase members on the Quarterly plan are issued coupons after successful payment quarterly depending on their sign-up date and these coupons are valid for 90 days.  Members on the Monthly or Yearly plans are issued coupons after successful payment each month depending on their sign-up date and these coupons are valid for 30 days.

How do I use my coupon?

Once your Briefcase and AppSumo accounts have been synced and your coupons are issued, head to the “My Rewards” section of your AppSumo account to find your available coupon uses.  If you’re ready to make a purchase, add the coupon to your cart from the “My Rewards” section of your AppSumo account using the “Apply to Cart” button, browse the AppSumo store, and add your desired tool to your cart.  At checkout, you’ll see that your coupon (up to $49) has been applied to your total.

Only one coupon can be used per transaction and each coupon has a value of up to $49. In the event you purchase a product that costs more than $49, you are responsible for the difference. Consequently, if you purchase a product that costs less than $49, it will still register as one coupon use and the remaining funds are lost.

If you would like to stack a product using a coupon, you will need to purchase the codes separately. After you've bought all the desired codes for stacking, there are special steps for stacking listed in the Redemption Instructions of each product.

How do I remove my coupon from my cart?

Having second thoughts and want to change your payment method after you've applied a Briefcase coupon to your cart?  All you need to do is sign out of your AppSumo account and sign back in.  You'll see the coupon use returned to the "My Rewards" tile of your Account page and you can use a debit/credit card, PayPal, or AppSumo credits to complete the payment.

How can I track my coupon?

You can find your coupons in the “ My Rewards” section of your AppSumo account.  From there, you’ll see how many coupon uses have been used during your current billing cycle and you’ll also have the option to add your coupon to your cart using the “Apply to Cart” button.  If you don’t see your coupons there, be sure that your Briefcase and AppSumo accounts are synced. If you’ve confirmed that your accounts are synced and still don’t see your coupon, this means you have used it completely or it has expired.

If you’d like additional information regarding your coupons (more than what’s provided in the “ My Rewards” section of your AppSumo account, reach out to the Briefcase Support Team at briefcase@appsumo.com and we’ll be sure to tell you everything you’d like to know!

Why has my coupon disappeared from my AppSumo account?

While the Briefcase and AppSumo Teams like to have fun, we’re not interested in any games of hide-and-seek.  If you no longer see your coupon in the “ My Rewards” section of your AppSumo account, it’s because you’ve either used it completely or it has expired.  We’re working on a new feature that will allow you to see your expired coupons, but for now, just know that if they’re gone, you’ll receive your next coupon upon successful payment on your next billing date.

How do I refund a product I bought with a coupon?

We have a 60-day, no-questions-asked refund policy, so you’re welcome to refund products purchased using a coupon at any point during the 60-day window.

If the coupon used for the refunded purchase is still valid (and the transaction only includes 1 item), you can initiate the refund from within your AppSumo account and the coupon use will be added back.

If the coupon used for the purchase is still valid, but the transaction included more than 1 item or the total was more than $49 and required you to pay the difference, write into the Briefcase Support team at briefcase@appsumo.com and we’ll take care of you!

If the coupon used for the purchase has since expired, let the Briefcase Support team know (at briefcase@appsumo.com) and we’ll be sure to make things right for you.

What is the difference between coupons and credits?

Credits are the official currency of AppSumo! The exchange rate is 1 AppSumo credit = 1 USD. Credits do not expire and you can choose whichever monetary amount you'd like to apply towards a purchase. If you buy a product in the AppSumo store with credits and refund it, the credits will be added back to your account.

Coupons are a benefit of the Briefcase subscription to use towards a purchase from the AppSumo store and are auto-issued based on your BC subscription. Only one coupon can be used per transaction and the coupon has a value of up to $49. In the event you purchase a product that costs more than $49, you are responsible for the difference. Consequently, if you purchase a product that costs less than $49, it will still count as one coupon use and the remaining funds are lost.  If you refund a product purchased using a coupon, the coupon use is added back as long as the coupon is still valid. Coupons expire based on your Briefcase subscription billing date, which can be confirmed in the “My Rewards” section of your AppSumo account.
